  • Clearly define success criteria
  • Use a Kanban approach for WIP
  • Keep a watchful eye on the principle of diminishing returns

FOG OF WAR

  • Up to this point, everything has been conceptual. It’s inevitable that things will go wrong as you move through this.
  • Be flexible, and adapt your battle plan to the changing scenarios as they present themselves.
  • In the fog of war, information streams are paramount, so ensure you have feedback loops and are monitoring those closely.

PERFECT IS THE ENEMY OF DONE

  • You *must* get out of your head at this point, and start executing. The analysis is done. Pick up a shovel!
  • Keep the principle of diminishing returns at the forefront of your mind at all times. Getting a working model is paramount.
  • Don’t get stuck in the weeds. Always keep the criticality/popularity metric for a service as the north star for how much effort to sink into it.
